Which side are you on: 61% of Amerikkkans favor using force against Iran, 28% oppose
(monkeysmashesheaven.wordpress.com)

According to a new poll, the majority, 61 percent, of Amerikkkans favor the use of military force against Iran. Of the 61 percent, 53 percent are Democrats, 55 percent are independents, and 73 percent are Republicans. Only 28 percent oppose military action against Iran.

59 percent think that military force will eventually need to be used. Only 29 percent think that Iran can be dealt with without the use of military force.

69 percent say that president Barrack Obama has not been tough enough on Iran. And, it is not just Republicans who say so. A majority, 55 percent of Democrats, 67 percent of independents, and almost all, 88 percent, Republicans agree. 16 percent think Obama’s policies have been about right and only 6 percent think that the US has been “too rough” on Iran. (1)

Amerikans, like their Israeli counterparts, are foaming at the mouth about the prospect of using force against Iran. A recent poll of Israelis had 71 percent favoring a military attack against Iran. (2) It is in this context that RCP USA and an Iranian exile group, both claiming to be Maoist, decided to launch their protests at the UN against the Islamic Republic recently. These clowns have even gone so far as to denounce the Iranian nuclear energy program. (3) The objective role of these clowns posing as Maoists is to undermine what little anti-interventionist sentiment exists amongst the activist community in the US. Their continual demonization of the Iranian regime echoes much of the rhetoric of the hawk media.

Real revolutionaries stand by oppressed nations that are threatened by imperialist military attack. It is clear that the US is gearing up for a possible confrontation with Iran. Such a confrontation has been in the works since at least the Bush years.

Let’s remember what Mao wrote in On Contradiction, “When imperialism launches a war of aggression against such a country, all its various classes, except for some traitors, can temporarily unite in a national war against imperialism.” (4)

  1. Digging deeper, I found a Pew Research poll that claims exactly the same figures. Is this FOX poll the same Pew Research poll with a different header or are they in fact separate polls with strikingly similar numbers?

  2. The imperialist invasions of oil rentier economy countries like Iraq or the threatened attacks on Iran are basically about controlling national resource derived rents and controlling oil and gas supply and monopoly
price on the world markets . Whether the imperialists , their oil companies, or the nation that owns the portion of the globe and its natural resources own and controls these rent incomes is bottom line.

Within these oil and gas nations there is class struggle over control of the distribution of the rents.
The Imperialists prefer to have subservient lackeys in control like the Saudi royal family that claim the national resources and rents as royal \ private family property , controlling price and the oil supply at imperialisms dictat. The Saudi royal family share some of the rents with the family connected bourgeoisie and dole out bribes to a labour aristocracy of its own citizens. While the imperialists run a protection racket backed by trade, sanctions ,and invasion threats and by promising to defend the lackeys from potential revolutions from elements ,or classes, that seek to nationalise or even- dare we say it socialise – the rents in the interest of all the different classes in the nation.
Thus the internal class struggles in the oil countries mainly centre on which class controls and distributes the national rent incomes . Countries like Venezuela claim to be distributing the nationalised oil rent incomes more fairly and using part of these rents for investing in development for building a socialist future .
While in Iran , after their armed revolutionary war for national independence and nationalisation of the oil resources , and putting down any Communists and Socialists, the distribution of the rent incomes is controlled by the national bourgeois , with the theocratic government in Iran using a muslim cover in seeking to act as conservative anti- communist guardians of national morality and mediator for the bourgeoisie , preventing any revolution by the lower classes over distribution of the rents. But the ayatollahs do not talk much about socialism unlike the Venezuelans.
Yet, according to Bloomberg at least ¾ of the Iranian economy is controlled by the state. Sanctions and insufficient oil and gas ‘”fossil fuels” rents to satisfy the growing populations needs and demands of the people of all classes have led to a shortage of national capital needed for the development of Iran’s huge new oil and gas fields. The imperialists demand the right to export and invest capital on their own terms.
The ownership and control of incomes from oil a gas rents is the real economic basis of any “negotiations” and obliteration of the economy war threats by Obama and the other imperialists . Threats , that may have the appearance of “negotiating” other invented problems like nuclear power ,“defending” Israel from nuclear attack from non existent Phantom nuclear bombs etc. sanctions for any cooked up reasons will threaten the flow of foreign capital investments. Within the government of the national bourgeoisie and from rich ayatollahs there is a comprador movement to compromise with imperialism, to find imperialist capital partners for development and in return giving imperialists a share from the bigger future rent incomes expected . The negotiations and threats are having some effect with statements from Iran ,that 80% of its oil and gas companies will become privatised very soon and all energy open to foreign investment.

Patriotic elements are saying No! Despite these threats of war and sanctions . And the CIA attempts to stir up a green “colour revolution” of middle class compradors for “Democracy” against the “ Theocrats “ .But, noisy elected populist politicos blessed by the ayatollahs, supposedly push for improving or maintaining a more fair distribution of the national incomes to the poorer classes, manage things on the ground by keeping the left ineffective and distracted as the privatisation moves ahead full steam ahead.
    The questions also arise:
Are countries like Iran Third World simply because the majority are poor , or should they be seen as Second World Rentier countries benefiting from the world trade and finance and cheap third world labour pricing system run by imperialism .
Who are the sources creating the labour created value transferred as capitalist rent/ profits, to these rentier states?
Is it primarily monopoly priced rent incomes transferred directly or indirectly derived from surplus value/ profit exploited from the Third World working people?
For the nature of mineral rent and how price is determined see rent of mines , mining part six vol. 3 Capital

“ From the standpoint of a higher economic form of society, private ownership of the globe by single individuals will appear quite as absurd as private ownership of one man by another. Even a whole society, a nation, or even all simultaneously existing societies taken together, are not the owners of the globe. They are only its possessors, its usufructuaries, and, like boni patres familias, they must hand it down to succeeding generations in an improved condition.”

  3. These poll numbers are not surprising. The majority of Americans supported the US aggression against Iraq in 2003.

And contrary to the deceptions promoted by American progressives about the ‘peace-loving nature’ of the American people, the vast majority of US citizens are anything but peaceful.

They will instinctively ’support the troops’ and America’s latest genocidal war.

And the only ‘anti-war’ opposition that has any widespread support in America is self-serving chauvinism based only upon opposition to the costs and consequences of war for the USA–and not its criminal nature.

America is a nation of warmongers and war criminals from the White House to Main Street, USA.

This is a political reality that the American Left would rather hide and disguise.

    • The pathetic Amerikan left never admits to the true nature of the Amerikans. Much of their denial stems from their religious approach to every aspect of revolutionary politics – including, opposition to imperialism, and not from serious scientific analysis. Even if you show them the stats, they’ll just put up some dogmatic retort that Amerikans are being led astray by the media, and given the “chance”, they would oppose these wars on a massive scale. Bullshit! I’ve even tried to convince leftist leaning people to support the Iranian state in defense to a possible US attacks and they just call me an “theocratic fanatic”, or some other crap which does nothing to disprove my point. They don’t understand the dynamics of anti-imperialism.

True, I think it’s increasingly obvious that the American Left is in reality a *secular religion* and not a politics.

As such, there are certain types of “canonized wisdoms” (like the supposed proletarian nature of the American working class) that are religious heresy to question.

        • Exactly right. The Amerikkkan left, especially the so-called “revolutionary left,” might as well be a religion.

The Amerikkkan working class is one of the most reactionary groups in history, the furthest thing from a proletariat. They are the social base of fascism, not socialism. Look at how they slobber over the chance to kill Iranians or keep Mexicans out of the US. It’s sick.
